NCAA Record-Setting Ashton Eaton to be Featured in Special "Tuesdays in Track Town"Published by
EUGENE, Ore. -- New NCAA heptathon record holder Ashton Eaton will
be featured in a special edition of "Tuesdays in Track Town" tomorrow
night at 7 p.m. at the Bowerman Building, Associate Athletic Director
Vin Lananna announced Monday. The hour-long event is free and open to
the public and refreshments will be provided. Also featured will be Brianne Theisen, a 2010 NCAA automatic
qualifier in the pentathlon, new assistant coach Harry Marra and many
of Oregon’s 20 NCAA indoor qualifiers and 14 current indoor school
record holders. Over the weekend, Eaton broke Trey Hardee’s collegiate record by
scoring 6,256 points at the Texas A&M Challenge. The defending NCAA
decathlon and heptathlon champion’s score was also the fifth-highest
ever recorded by an American. It was one of five NCAA Indoor Championships automatic qualifying
marks recorded by the Ducks over the weekend. Others included Theisen
in the pentathlon (4,198), Nicole Blood in the 3,000 meters (9:12.54)
and the men’s (9:29.82) and women’s (10:59.64) distance medley relay
teams. School records from the weekend included Eaton in the heptathlon,
the women’s distance medley relay team, Amber Purvis in the 60 meters
(7.33), Keshia Baker in the 400 meters (52.79) and the women’s 4x400
meter relay team (3:36.13). PARKING NOTE: After 6 p.m., parking is free on 15th Street and in
most lots near the Bowerman Building, but be sure to read the posted
